To Sign or Not To Sign

In the past, I have always signed everything I made, both originals and prints. On limited edition prints, I also number them. I have noticed recently, though, that a lot of artists do this on the back instead of the front or don't do it at all.
I'm curious if people ever find the signature obtrusive on the front of the work of art. Any thoughts?

I personally sign and date my illustration and photography prints in pencil on the front because they're bigger. My original/print ACEOs I sign/date on the back so it's less obtrusive on that small area.

I like front-signed art, myself! Just another indication that it was handmade by a real person and not mass-produced. :)

i much prefer to purchase artwork that has been signed and numbered by the artist. it means more.

I think that is madness for an artist to NOT sign their work.

I like signed, but not too big and obnoxious. I've received a print where the signature was in sloppy black sharpie and about 4 inches wide in the corner. Sign it, but don't overwhelm your work! :)

I buy quite a few little original oils and do not find the signature obtrusive at all.

if its small, i may initial on the front and sign on the back. also, if you sell matted, you can sign the mat. but, always sign somewhere so you claim and protect your work.

I think a signature is so important,if you made it be proud of it and sign it. I sell antiques as well and anything with a signature is worth far more than without. A signed painting will fetch more money than not signed, the same with works of art and jewelry.Down the road your item will be worth more signed.
