Photobucket copyright issues concerning artists and photographers.

hi there,
i thought that it may be of some assistance to spread awareness of an issue concerning copyright misuse at photobucket.
users are uploading many works with no reference to the creator, which are distributed freely throughout the site and to other web users to do with as they wish.
there is no way to contact the user who is taking the work, and the copyright report procedure is somewhat ridiculous, sadly.

on pursuing this subject, i did discover that many users are taking images from our sold items pages and so on, so this is why i thought it useful to mention here at etsy.

for a small example of my own work being distributed, please view this flickr post/thread:

............

i am leaving this here for info purposes only, and wont really have time to pop back in and debate/discuss, so do forgive me for that - it isnt a hit and run;)

if anyone has something they wish to inform me of, etc, please feel free to convo me.

thanks for reading,
and take care,
louise.

Can't believe this is already buried, without a response.

Thanks for the info.

And a bump!

On photobucket you need to make your albums private; then only you can look at your images.

My photos are at 72dpi, it might look good on the computer, but they will not be able to print it.

thanks dreamygiraffe for the convo:)

it is evident folks that people are able to sell our images, via the 'buy prints' button.

im wondering if any collective action has been taken at some point?
this cant be new, and i wont be the only one.

my images are al subtly watermarked here.
they deliberately chose my old work that was 8oo pixels and faintly marked

still, the watermarks are visible on prints, for i once sold one by accident, and the buyer was truly miffed;)

__________

It's not her photobucket account.

Someone has stolen her photos and put them on photobucket.

Eek, 800 pixels is attractive to steal? I have many old images up at 1000 pixels; newer stuff at 600 or 700 pixels. Maybe I should post even smaller... Blech.
