So should I just give up? CPSIA and children's clothing...

I just started my company this year. We have been doing really well locally and I was going to start my Spring line sheet for wholesale. However after reading all this- should I just give up? I can't possibly test my current things, and I was going to start printing some of my own designs as well! What are you going to do? If you make children’s things, what is your plan and how will you deal with these changes?
Thanks!

I'm a knitter who loves making baby things. I took all of them out of my shop and just make adult items now. It's sad that this law affected hand crafters this way.

I don't think you need to close your shop. Fabric is exempt from testing. It doesn't look like you really have anything that would need to be tested.

What all is involved in CPSIA. How would one test and how. Is it just children's clothing?

Stay away from zippers and metal buttons, as far as fabric goes, you should be fine for now.

Don't give up!! As someone already mentioned fabric is exempt from testing unless you screen print, then that needs to be tested. The wording in one of the last cpsc updates indicates that you can use something if you have the GCCs from the manufact

According to my understanding, the resin snaps are fine. As long as you have the GCCs. KAM and very baby both have the certs you need.

Right now manufacturer GCCs are OK. As of Feb 10, if it isn't ALL fabric you will need to have the entire product tested. This means a bib with velcro needs to be tested. A bib with a snap needs to be tested. Anything with plastic will need to be tested for phthalates as well.

Don't give up though! Be creative and get the things tested that you can't make of all fabric.

Can anyone site where this is in the CPSC that is exempt? Not that I am questioning the valididty by any means but I want to see the specifics.
Thanks!!

I only make things with cloth and thread so I'm just swimming along with everyone else. I'm not testing anything right now. If I add a zipper I'm going to put PG 13.
