Johanna of Goodgirlsstudio, the latest seller to be featured in the Storque's Quit Your Day Job series, has volunteered to take your questions. Check out her interview here first: http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/quit-your-day-job-goodgirlsstudio-5674/
..and then go ahead and post any questions you might have about running your Etsy business and Goodgirlsstudio will pop in to lend a hand.

Have fun!

Reading about your enthusiasm and process of working from home was very helpful. Do you have any suggestions regarding my site. I have only made one sale and am anxious to really get things off the ground! I have had some feedback that my site is too gray, do I need more pops of color? Any advice would be most appreciated. Love your site. Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.

KimPipes :I think your pictures look great! Jewelry is a very saturated category on Etsy & the best thing you can do to get yourself noticed is to get on other social networking sites & direct your traffic to your shop. Try facebook & twitter, both generate lots of views & eventually have led to sales for me. Also, hand out business cards & direct shop owners to your site if you offer wholesale. Hope that helps!

bendywho: I love you! Hmmm...you inspire me with all your luscious foliage :) I'm very much inspired by the past & by-gone days. Women should wear hats & gloves & get to dress up to do their shopping! Old vintage Vogue magazines are killer for igniting my creativity! The titles are snippets of the stories I tell myself while I'm creating their new life. It helps that I'm a tragic romantic with no current boyfriend :)

What advice would you give to a small town shop like my own? I always wear my jewelry when I leave the house and try to hand out business cards a lot but I am sort of shy. I also have FB and twitter. Is there a way to jump start my sales?

It's always inspiring when a jewelry shop sells well on Etsy in this saturated market!!
You mentioned to twitter and facebook .. Can you give us an example of what type of comment you would use on twitter to not come off like spam? or do you just forget that and look at is as advertising and people don't have to follow you if they don't want to?

KJ: You always bring a smile to my face :) Miss you Dreamer!

dibabeads& NerdGirlsUnlimited: there really is no magic way to jump start sales. Having jewelry in local shops (even if it's consigning) has boosted my online sales because usually the shop owners leave my cards out with my jewelry & all my tags have my website on them. My "tweets" are usually something cheeky about a newly listed item. Like when I listed my Annie Oakley necklace with the gun I posted n twitter "it's a stick-up" :) Networking with local designers helps too, especially in jewelry category to hook up with a clothing designer & do fashion shows & events together! I think the key to your online business is about directing traffic to your shop. Etsy is a big pond & it's hard to get noticed unless you are out there networking.
