Admin- PLEASE clarify- Have the rules changed on Cancel sale on returns?
JPATPURSES
JPATPURSES says:
If a customer returns an item, I refund, then cancel the sale, has that changed or will it change?

Cancel the sale for returned items has alway been allowed in the past so has that changed and why?

Thank you
JPAT

I too really want to know about this as well.

I have sent a couple convos and email to admin about this a little earlier, I will post what I find out and suggest they see this thread if I hear from anyone as well.

Just to be clear, you are asking if the fees and commission are returned, right?
JPATPURSES
JPATPURSES says:
yes goats, I have done maybe 5-6 with no problems at all.

My understanding is that per the new TOU's, you can't cancel a sale if a customer returns the item.

It makes sense, really, at least to me. Etsy has done their part, so why should they refund our money if the customer changes their mind? I've often wondered why they did that in the first place

I'm asking along with JPatPurses. I was not aware of this change if it does exist. It will make a huge impact on sales sitewide when buyers are confronted with 1 no return policy after another.

I can honestly understand both sides here, not that I think it's particularly fair....

my biggest concern is that this WAS allowed before and now it is not and there has been no clear announcement in a pretty drastic change.

The D&D's now outline the circumstances under which your fees will be returned when you cancel a sale.

Admin is quoted as saying that if the reason for canceling the sale isn't listed ... there will be no refund of fees to you.
JPATPURSES
JPATPURSES says:
imo- if an item is returned, funds refunded then there never was a sale, therefore no fees should be charged
