Please be painfully honest...how are the pix in my shop?

All of a sudden I'm second guessing the way my pictures look of my jewelry. I figured I should stay with a neutral background as to not distract from my pieces but now I feel like it all looks boring and unattactive.

Please feel free to give me your honest opinions!!! I welcome any and all feedback from my etsy peeps!

Oh and if you think something else needs some tweaking I'll take that advice as well.

Thanks in advance...:)

p.s. I plan on changing my little pic asap to reflect more of whats in my shop. :)

simpleyetsassy- I'm no expert believe me. I think your photos look good. I think your pieces show up well against the white. We are in the same boat, we have been retaking our pictures against white because people told us our pictures were too dark. Good luck! YOur pieces are beautiful.

Hi simple - first, you have very pretty designs. I do think your photos could use some work. They are a little dark and could come in closer with more interesting cropping. Right now, I agree, I think it looks a little bland. Your banner is so vibrant and has so much personality ... I'd love to see your pictures work to complement that as your jewelry is great! Hope this helps. Photos are a never ending journey. I'm constantly re-working mine to try and get it right!

I think close ups that are re-cropped into squares would be good. Your jewelry is really pretty.

It seems that most of your earring pictures are a little dark. I also agree that some of the cropping needs work.

That's what I was going to say Pookie!:) Wow! that banner just jumps out at you (in a good way)..I love it. Then you scroll down to a very bland landscape of your beautiful jewelry. I'm not saying that you should have a bright orange background for your shots, but, experiment a little with some colors. Good luck~~Gigi

Hi! I don't make jewelry but when I look for it on Etsy, I like how it is displayed outside. I love how you have the dangle earrings hanging from the tree branch! The natural night makes jewelry shine. Depending on what the piece is, I would use the white background on some jewelry and take some outside. I would love to display my purses outside but I don't really have a place to do it.

I'm struggling with photos myself, and I can say for sure that you need more light -- there are dark spots hovering over the middle of some of the shots.

You can also try experimenting with different camera angles in a few of the shots; for instance, try getting the camera really low and then shooting, or try placing one item in the foreground (out of focus) and one in the middle (in focus). I liked photographing in real daylight, and I think I might go back to it, but sometimes it's just not convenient.

Nice things, good luck :)

Hi!
Your silver is beautiful!
I just had a look and honestly, I think the items take up too little space in the frame. Cropping them closer or setting your camera on macro mode and getting REALLY close would help. I keep reminding myself when I take my photos that the thumbnails are only about 1" big. How will I entice viewers to click on the item with only 1"? Super close-ups. I think it works!

Take this listing for example:

You could photograph it closer like this:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28171872

Similar items, but one fills up the whole thumbnail...

That's my 2cent's worth. Good luck! :)
