So is this latest installment of the easy blog being less about selling items on Etsy and on fact directly marketing a mass produced off site competitor further proof of the new direction? You know the direction where the blog operates more and more independently of the site and Etsy becomes less and less of a marketplace and more of a social experiment with a gift shop?

That's what I concluded, Knot. Here's what I said last night in regards to the coral controversy:
So… how’s this new social(istic) media instead of eCommerce strategic direction working for everyone?

I hope they'll reinstate their original mission statement about helping sellers connect with buyers. I enjoy a lot of peeps here, but use Facebook to socialize online.

I'm deeply concerned about the shift of etsy. Thanks for starting this topic.
It isn't just guest bloggers who neither sell nor buy work on etsy, it's a big change.
The etsy facebook page promoted a seller of letter press coasters who doesn't sell here. By the way, there are 232 awesome handmade listings for letter press coasters here.
Etsy admin tweet about stuff they buy on Big Cartel or elsewhere during the day.
The homogenization of etsy is not a pretty thing.
If we keep Storque references generic the thread will stay open.

Really.
The paradigm shift has occurred.
Handmade sellers are the last to know.

I showed Al the article last night, we talked about it, then he got out some decades-old amazing coral to show me. He talked about some designs he has in mind and said he's looking forward to our presenting them, but maybe not here if it's really not welcome. We'll see how this develops.
Keep calm, carry on.
