How do I leave feedback?

Feedback is a record of a member's impression of a transaction on Etsy. Both the buyer and shop owner can leave feedback optionally for one another in each transaction. Buyers can tell the world about the service received from a shop owner and the item purchased. Shop owners can leave feedback for buyers about the payment process.

You have 120 days from the transaction date to leave feedback. After 120 days, the ability to leave feedback expires.

All purchases on Etsy are private. When leaving feedback for a seller your username will not appear with your feedback rating and message. Feedback messages you’ve received will not appear publicly in your account, only your overall feedback rating is visible.

Shop owners cannot make their sold order history or feedback from shoppers private.

Step 1: From Your Account , click Feedback

102EN1

To leave feedback, you must be signed in to your Etsy account. Go to Your Account > Feedback. Here you can view your completed feedback, your items awaiting feedback and your appreciation photos. Both the buyer and shop owner have the ability to leave feedback for a transaction.

To leave feedback, select the Items Awaiting Feedback tab.

This how-to will focus on how to leave individual feedback. If you have many items awaiting feedback, you may opt to use the batch feedback tool. This allows you to submit feedback and comments for a whole page of items at one time.

Step 2: Rate and comment on the transaction

102EN2

Rate the transaction as positive, negative or neutral by clicking the button next to the rating. You may leave an optional comment related to the transaction. Be honest with your rating and your comment. Consistency, fairness and honesty are critical to the integrity of the feedback system. Feedback directly affects a member's reputation, so we ask that members take it seriously.

The feedback score is the cumulative total of all positives (+1) and negatives (-1) received. Neutral feedback does not affect a member's feedback score as it's neither positive or negative. If you are considering leaving neutral or negative feedback, please try to resolve the issue by communicating with the other person. Many situations can be resolved before leaving feedback so that both parties are satisfied with the transaction.

Step 3: Add a photo

102EN3

You may add an optional Appreciation Photo to your feedback entry. This is not required, but it can be a fun way to thank the buyer or shop owner.

To add an image, use the Browse button to locate the image file on your computer. Images may be in gif, jpg, or png format and should be under 500kb in file size.

You do not need to add an Appreciation Photo when you submit your feedback rating. In fact, you cannot add Appreciation Photos when using the batch feedback tool. But if you leave a positive rating, you may add your photo later by going to Your Account > Feedback. Choose the Completed Feedback tab, and click the Left for others option. You should see an option to add a photo next to each positive feedback entry you have left for another member.

Step 4: Submit your feedback

102EN4

Review your feedback entry carefully. Keep in mind that most feedback cannot be edited or removed later, so be sure it's accurate. Learn more about Etsy's policies for Feedback.

When you are ready, click Submit.

You can view all the feedback you've left or received by clicking the Completed Feedback tab on this page. To view a seller's feedback, go to their shop home page and click the Feedback link.

Step 5: Change of heart? Kiss and make up

102EN5

Kiss and Make Up is a way for members to change negative or neutral feedback if an issue has been resolved. You will find the link for Kiss and Make Up underneath the negative or neutral feedback entry that on Your Account > Feedback > Completed Feedback. When you initiate a Kiss and Make Up offer, an Etsy Conversation is automatically sent by Etsy to both you and the other person involved in the transaction. Both parties must agree to change the feedback rating from negative/neutral to positive. You can initiate Kiss and Make Up for neutral or negative feedback that you have left or received.
