Fees Policy

Listing fees
Each listing on Etsy costs $0.20 USD when the listing is published. A listing lasts for four months or until the item is sold. After four months if the item has not sold, then the listing expires. Listing fees are added to your monthly Etsy bill.

You may easily renew expired, sold or active listings if you like. A renewed listing is given a new expiration date four months from the renewal date. The fee for renewing a listing is $0.20 USD. Renewal fees are added to your monthly Etsy bill.

If you have more than one of the same item, you can reflect the quantity available in your listing. When a transaction occurs and the listing is not sold out, the listing is automatically renewed at a cost of $0.20 USD. If a transaction includes more than one of the same item, then a multiple quantity fee of $0.20 USD per quantity sold greater than one is applied. Multiple quantity fees are added to your monthly Etsy bill.

For example: My listing states I have ten prints available. The listing fee is $0.20 USD. A shopper buys three prints in a single transaction, so the quantity is reduced to seven prints available. An additional $0.40 USD for the multiple quantity fee is added to my Etsy bill as well as $0.20 USD for the auto-renewal. The listing is given a new expiration date. When the last available print is purchased and the listing is sold out, I have to manually renew the sold listing if I want to put it back in my shop.

Transaction fees
When you make a sale on Etsy, you will be charged a transaction fee of 3.5% of the item price. This percentage does not include the shipping cost or tax. Transaction fees are added to your monthly Etsy bill.

Advertising fees
Etsy offers advertising opportunities to increase the visibility of your items and shop. Advertising fees vary by opportunity. Ad fees will be clearly outlined before you commit to purchasing an ad. Advertising fees are added to your monthly Etsy bill.

Paying your bill
Fees for listings, transactions and ads are accrued on your monthly Etsy bill. At the end of each month we add up all your fees, and we email your monthly statement to you. You must pay your bill by the 15th of the next month, or your bill will be overdue. Your Etsy bill may be paid using either the credit card on file or via PayPal. You can review your bill or make a payment at any time under Your Shop > Your Bill.

Payment processing fees
Eligible shops may choose to use direct checkout to process payments. Etsy charges a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25 USD for each order completed via direct checkout. This fee is assessed on the total amount of the sale, including tax and shipping. Unlike other fees, this payment processing fee is deducted from the transaction amount as the funds become available for deposit. Payment processing fees will be reflected in your Shop Payment Account, rather than on your Etsy bill.

Currency conversion
All fees on Etsy are in US Dollars. Currency conversion is handled automatically by our payment processing service.

Effective Date: May 21, 2012.
