Ways to Shop
Welcome to Etsy! Etsy is a collection of shops from individual craftspeople- it's all about the one-on-one relationship between you and the artist. We hope you'll enjoy the unique goods you'll find here!
There are many fun and easy ways to shop on Etsy. You can find most of these from the Buy page. If you find something awesome that you want to remember, register for an account and add it to your Favorites (we'll tell you how below)!
Ready? Let's get shopping!
Describe what you are looking for. You'll get the best results when you search at least 2-3 words. Add more words to narrow your search. If you can't think of 3 words, try Categories.
- Change the drop-down menu options to search handmade items, art and craft supplies, vintage items (20 years or older), all items, sellers, or materials.
- Use NOT to exclude items from your search.
- Add % to search for a partial shop name with Sellers: Usernames selected in the drop-down menu.

Browse by the type of item. Once you have selected a category, narrow it down by selecting a subcategory on the left side. You can search within those results by adding words into the search bar. You can eliminate results by typing the name of the category that you're in, then NOT and what you'd like to eliminate. Ex. clothing NOT children.
Curated galleries of 12 items, picked by Etsians- including you! Click Hot to see the most popular lists. The Hand-picked items on the front page of Etsy usually come from the Treasury.
Top picks from Etsy shops. Click an item to see other featured items. Click More to see the whole listing. The main Showcase is linked from the front page of Etsy. The Storque Showcase scrolls on the front page of Etsy's blog, The Storque. There's a Showcase in the Gift Guides too. They change every day, so check back often!
There are also Showcases for each category. To see them, go to the Categories page and click on the name of any top-level category.
Gift ideas picked by Etsy staff for everyone on your list. Once you're looking at a list, you can scroll through to other lists in the same grouping by using the blue arrows at the top.
Bookmark (aka "heart") your favorite items and shops. Log in to your account (or get one, if ya haven't already!) then click Add Item to Favorites or Add Seller to Favorites on the right side of the listing. You can see who else hearts the same item or seller. Find Favorites at Your Etsy.
Find items several available items from shops that have just sold an item, and from undiscovered shops waiting for their first sale. Click Pounce Again to go to the next page, and the arrow goes to the previous page. You can change the number of shops per page by adjusting Rows.
Find other Etsians who heart the same things as you, and see their favorite items and sellers. Click the heart to see who else hearted an item. Click on the person to see items they heart. You can also search Find User if there's an Etsian you want to start with.
Watch 1,000 recent items flying toward you! Click on an item to see a larger picture, and then click on the description of it to see the listing. Use the arrows at the bottom to go backward and forward. Have fun by throwing items around and changing the formations they fly in.
See 1,000 recent items in a linear format. Toggle between Just Listed, Expiring Soon and Just Sold. The arrows move you forward and backward in time.
Browse the most recent listings by location. Click on a number to see the most recently listed items from that region. In addition to places, you can search for tags, materials, and sellers. Spin the globe around to check all over the world!
Click a color to see matching items. Click on an item to make it larger, and choose More to see the listing. Clean Up removes all the items from the palette. You can search within colors by clicking the link for the other Colors tool at the bottom of the screen.
See who's birthday it is today! If you update your birthday in your public profile, you too can be here on the big day!
Featured Sellers are chosen twice weekly by Etsy Admin. Read an interview and get a peek into their studio and shop. Be sure to check out all the previous Featured Sellers as well! Find the Featured Seller on the front page.
See items that have been featured in articles in The Storque, Etsy's blog. It's a great way to find cool, unique items!
