The Regency period immortalized in Jane Austen novels is the inspiration for this ensemble modeled by Barbie. Her empire-waisted gown is composed of two parts: a white batiste undergown, and a lavender overgown. I have researched Regency fashion over and over and cannot find a name or reference to this garment, so I made it from the inspiration of movies I have seen. The white undergown has a gathered bodice with long sleeves, and white-on-white embroidery on the skirt front. The undergown has a snap back closure. The overgown functions kind of like a modern jumper, and is made from lavender print cotton, and fully lined in a coordinating print. The sleeveless design closes in the front of the bust with a hook and loop. Her bonnet has a brim made from white aida, and a gathered crown of lavender cotton. Lining is made from gathered white batiste and lavender print cotton, and the bonnet is embellished with lavender and gray ribbon roses. The bonnet sits on Barbie's head neatly due to the gathering of the fabric. VIOLIN AND BOW ARE NOT INCLUDED in the auction--they are props only. Auction includes:
1 empire-style gown with snap back closure.
1 lined jumper(overgown) with hook-and-loop front closure.
1 bonnet with floral accent.
A note about fit: This fashion fits the vintage, repro, and TNT body styles best. Here, the fashion is modeled by Harpist Angel Barbie, which has the 1966 TNT body.
