This is a beautiful wand made from the wood of a Rowan tree. It's quite long, quite straight, and very slender, giving it somehow a kind of delicate air. I've left the bark intact to form a pleasing contrast, both vsiaul and tactile, between it and the exposed wood. There are several knots spread along the length, with two of the largest and knobbliest forming a small grippy handle.
I think this wand has a rather kindly air, as well as a strong feeling of the Fae. I don't think it's at all malicious, but it may well have the slightly quirky sense of humour so often to be found in tools having a strong connection with the Fair Folk; and I suspect it may well take things very literally. I believe it would best suit a young woman with a little experience of the Craft, and I think it would be best for someone with a light touch.
Rowan is very protective, especially against lightning and evil witchery, and can be useful in healing. It is said to increase psychic powers and bring power and success. It is allegedly the best wood to use if dowsing for metal. It is also the traditional choice for Druid's staffs.
Size: Almost seventeen inches long and three eighths to half an inch thick.
424mm x 9-14mm.
It will come with a list of the magical properties of the wood, a picture of the actual wand, consecration suggestions and care instructions.
For a full list of the woods I might have available as well as their magical properties, associated folklore and a bunch of other stuff, check out my blog at: http://www.mazedasastoat.blogspot.com/
All my wands are, by their very nature, unique. They are grown, not made. They are all formed from twigs and branches lost naturally by the native trees in and around the perimeter of my totally organic garden. The wood is collected, identified, and sorted, then smoothed into the right size and shape for that particular twig. Finally, each wand is given at least two coats of organic vegetable-derived oil to protect and nourish the wood. This oil contains no chemicals or preservatives and is exactly as it comes from the press. I will not cut trees to get the wood, and if I’ve used prunings I’ll say so! I will not use power tools of any kind, and I certainly won’t use any artificial chemical substances such as stain, dye, paint, or glue. If you like, you can embellish your wand in whatever way you choose, with paint, carving, cords, ribbons and crystals, but I leave them as pure and natural as possible while still being beautiful, practical and non-splintery. All wands will be given another coat of oil before dispatch, wrapped in paper, padded with shredded paper and posted with their relevant literature in a stout tube or custom made box to ensure safe arrival. Packaging materials are all recycled/recyclable so please dispose of them thoughtfully.
