Vintage 1930s cigarette box. Art Deco style and proportions. Made of gleaming silverplate with a cedar wood lining inside. Rectangular shape with rounded edges and corners, sleek as a new 1930s plane. The lid lifts off, and inside can fit dozens of cigarettes, a la Bogie and Bacall. Or use it for pens, money, letters, secrets, paperclips. It has a lovely, warm, rich silver surface. Looks like solid brass beneath the silverplate.
Stamped on the bottom:

This is, possibly, a cigarette box from the lounge at the Union Air Terminal (or an in flight cigarette box), which was active from 1934 - 1940. Very good condition, with some surface wear as shown. There is a crescent shaped mark on the top lid. The wood lining is intact. No dents or dings. A lovely box.
