I found these in the cupboard under the stairs. They had been hidden from the light of day for over thirty years, unused. These stacking, footed, blue melamine mugs, are priced on the base in black marker pen: .39 (cents). This shows that they were sold after 1967 (the date that NZ converted to decimal currency), although their whimsical white graphics look earlier than that to me - a take on Pyrex's 'Chelsea' motif even? One of the mugs still bears its manufacturer's label showing that Optoplast of Wellington made this 'Lustroware.' The mugs may be unused, but they are also unusable: the smeared streak across one of the motifs ( right hand cup in Photo 1) and a couple of other smaller smears happened when I washed them. Maybe the ink has broken down over time or never was fast. One of the mugs is unblemished. However the melamine is in good condition and all three still look very desirable.
