Botanical print of a plant from the Island of Timor in South East Asia. It might be Strychnos muricata but it is not clearly identified, the artist gives it the name "Bico" or "Pao Amargo"

This listing is for a facsimile of an illustration from a manuscript about the flora of Timor. The originals were drawn by a Portuguese priest in the 18th. century and are held in an archive in Lisbon and they are watercolor illustrations on rice paper.

A facsimile is a copy or reproduction of an old book or manuscript that is as true to the original source as possible. As you can see in the scanned images, the page shows the illustration as it is in the original. Some of them have uneven borders or other minor imperfections. In my opinion, this makes the vintage illustration even more beautiful, you get an exact reproduction of an 18th. century drawing.

Size: approx. 10" by 13.5"

In excellent condition.

This is the actual page from a 1969 book, not a reproducition.
