This Antique Door Knocker is in the form of Seven Gentlemen and an old Grey Mare on their way to Widdecombe Fair. This depiction is from the old English song titled "Widdecombe Fair" (sometimes titled "Uncle Tom Cobley") about several men who ask Tom Pearce to borrow his old horse to make the trek to the fair. The men promise to bring the horse back but never do. This is a very whimsical door knocker; lots of character. It is constructed of solid brass (tested with a magnet). The door knocker is not new. It is a salvaged item and has patina due to use and age. Overall condition is excellent. Go ahead... buy it, install it & make your neighbors jealous!

Why buy a salvaged door knocker? Salvaged door knockers are often constructed of much better materials and the craftsmanship is unparalleled. Not only have they proven that they will last through the years, but their value and collectibility through time has increased and will definitely increase further.
The obvious place for a door knocker is on your front door but they can be used in so many other areas. Bedrooms, bathrooms, dorm rooms, office spaces, workshops, garages, man caves etc... the possibilities are endless. Some door knockers are beautiful enough to simply hang on your wall for display.
Door knockers can also reflect your personality or the personality of your home. Is your home Victorian, Gothic, Art Nouveau, Art Deco or Mid Century Modern? Are you fond of particular breed of dog or other animal? Do you want your door knocker to say you're strong, intelligent, or maybe the class clown? There are knockers out there for you.
