This old Summer coverlet or quilt piece that was never quilted. Lightweight cotton. It has been sewn into pieces of cotton on the sides. Some of the squares have been cut into, so you see it’s a piece with age, as it was repurposed. Size approx: 54x74. 119 squares. This may have been used as a Summer coverlet on a single bed. The squares measure 5x5. The subjects range from fans, strawberries, flowers such as Pansies, deer, and old Spanish Mission or church, one character that is saying ‘Adios’, Cherries. The red thread has faded to dark/ light pink and in some squares there are missing stiches. I hi-lighted a few pix to show detail, as it was hard to photograph. There are some rough areas (note pix 5) along the sides, unfinished and a patch here and there. Lots of beautiful handwork for altered art or sewing projects, such as pillows. This is an old piece, cutter, history with flaws of age and love. Beautiful material for Christmas crafts, such as stockings.
