This wonderfully opulent teacup and saucer were made by Aynsley, the famous English pottery, during the 1930s.
The cup has been created in the glamourous corset shape and is painted a beautiful deep Marie Antoinette pink.
It's embellished delicately with a richly royal gold swag and filigree pattern. The swirly handle, cup and saucer rims also feature gold decoration.
Gentle scalloping also enhances the cup's outer rim.
A perfect addition to any vintage tea set collection, this teacup and saucer are also perfect for displaying in armoire or offering as a gift to a special friend.
Both the cup and saucer are in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, and very light wear to the gold line trims.
There are two very tiny black spots and a fine dark smudge under the glaze on the saucer, but this is scarcely noticeable and to be expected with a set that is over seventy years old.
Height of teacup: 6.7cm
Width of saucer: 14 cm
The Fairy Tale Bit: 'The PInk' is fairytale collected by the Brothers Grimm. It's a rather brutal tale that involves lies, deceit, abandonment, magical doves, a child whose wishes come true as soon as they are uttered and a beautiful maiden who often takes on the form of a flower (a pink).
