These look particularly snazzy and if you use a melted wax stamp/seal to securely close and seal the envelope for the purposes of shipping them through the mail ... you can also use a small piece of invisible tape to seal them just as well. When they're sealed then can hold paperwork just under the folded flaps (if you secure the bottom seams with tape) or if you open them up completely, since they're double thick (not like the single layer ones you typically see for sale) they open to reveal their full 12 x 12" scrapbook paper size, and you can then place your papers on the inside of the double fold, and fold it back up, hence avoiding the need for using tape to seal the bottom edges of the envelope, and then they can hold paperwork securely within, once they're folded back up.
These make great holders for small amounts of paperwork and serve as a nice decorative touch when used to hold receipts/business cards/etc for sending customers their purchased items. Opening them up just a bit, allows for envelope-sized "Thank You" note space, while opening them up all the way to their full 12 x 12" size shows the backside of the paper (see detailed description of paper variety used, to know whether the scrapbook paper has a single-sided or double-sided design) and allows you to securely hold paperwork or other flat items inside the first fold. You can even use these as the PERFECT one page letter stationary - when completely open you have 144 square inches of writing space to scribble your thoughts, then you just fold it back up, melt&stamp some sealing wax over the diamond-shaped closure point (or use a piece of invisible clear tape) and pop it in the post - for those of you who still write to family/friends or penpals via snail mail ;-)
