And yet, in the glow of mid-summer twilight on the Blackdown Hills of Somerset one may chance to hear the Pixie Piper. Because, dearest friend, the Pixies of Buckland St. Mary are returned to The Moon Under Water Public House. It is true.
Half the size of our Fairy Cottages, this is our beloved half scale pixie pub which debuted at the Molly Cromwell Miniature Show in Orlando Florida in February 2012.
The Moon Under Water Public House is built from high end 1/4" plywood to a 1:24 scale or 1"= 2 feet. This pub is life size for real Pixies who stand 3" high. The Pub stands 14" high (not including the height of the field grasses) by 15" long and is approximately 8" deep. It sits on a landscaped base which is 15"x 22". The turntable is felt covered and is 16" x 24". The structure is designed with half timbered walls and actual rock, meticulously hand painted in intricate detail. No foamcore or paper clay was used to construct our heritage buildings. All painting is done to exacting museum standards in high grade acrylic artist paints, inks and mediums. All decor is richly detailed depicting the personality of the Pub designed.
This traditional, thatched roof pub is ready for a Jubilee Fete with shimmering bunting hung in the Pub garden. The outdoor tables are set with food and ale, and a good Pixie Plowman's lunch with local Cotswold and Stilton cheeses waits on the sideboard. Upstairs more discoveries await- the aviary houses the Pixie bird in his leather harness and tackle. And there is a mysterious bedroom, possibly for the Adventurer waiting in the dining room. The barman's daughter keeps the bar.
The Pub comes on its fully landscaped base which rests on a felt covered turntable for maximum viewing. The Pub is fully lighted with TOMY battery LED lights. 3" Dolls included. Our Illuminated Pixies fit into the Pub as well.
The fantasy scale installation is entirely handmade of natural materials and high end silk fabrics and foliage. Mosses are cured and will last for generations, All dried flowers are professionally preserved and are purchased from all over the world. The house is painted in painstaking detail in artist acrylic paint, mediums and inks. Our fairy houses are meticulously thatched with hand wrapped bundles of natural broom straw. Each layer is carefully aged. Everything seen in the photographs is included.
