'........Swaledale yarn is supple, slim and hardy – just like the sheep that it comes from. Knitting with the Swaledale yarn reminds me of crunchy snow and difficult landscapes.'
I have left a lot of the natural grey as it has a beautiful 'heathered 'quality which contrasts nicely with the greens and blues..and a hint of lilac....
Beautifully subtle colours for a gentle colourway ...there are also the natural dark & light fibers in the roving, this gives an added texture against the greys......
This fiber is full of character! Perhaps for a spinner who wnats to try something new!
Swaledale wool is predominantly used in carpet yarns and rug yarns due to its excellent resilience and hardwearing properties. Some wool finds its use in hand-knitting yarns. The fineness is approx. 35-45microns and length, 100-200mm. The fleece varies in colour from white to grey. I have left a lot of the natural grey as it has a beautiful 'heathered 'quality which contrasts nicely with the greens and blues..
Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses.
Handpainted in 100% colourfast non-toxic wool dyes gently so the fibre is ready to spin:)
As a spinner myself, all my rovings are tested for 'drafting' quality and the dyeing process is done very carefully as to not damage or felt any fibers.
I have tried to capture the colours using natural light, however, please note that monitor displays can affect the colour accuracy.
This is a really interesting fiber and lovely to spin!
