This quilted wall hanging is a unique one of a kind piece. The inspiration for it was a print, appropriately called Hanky Panky, which featured vintage looking hankie panels. Rather than simply piecing these hankies together, I used a variation of the Cathedral Window pattern which provides an interesting effect and a 3-dimensional finish. Sashing with corner blocks helps to set off these pieced handkerchief squares. In soft shades of pink, blue and yellow, this quilt would be ideal in a shabby chic room or a girl's bedroom or anywhere you want to add a touch of nostalgia.
A double fold binding, handstitched to the back side, encloses the edges and machine quilting provides the finishing touch.
The wall hanging measures 31" square. Sewn into the binding at the upper back are fabric loops through which a rod can be inserted for hanging, making this item suitable for either hanging on a wall or using as a table topper.
