Rag doll cloth art doll. I have created a pattern for a traditional style rag doll based on memories of my childhood rag dolls made by my talented mum whom I have named these dolls after.
This Molly Dolly is called Little Min. This lovely doll is definitely an exercise in nostalgia and happy memories, she is exactly the kind of doll I loved as a child.
After doll making my mum moved onto clothes and knit wear, when she and her two partners retired a few years ago I inherited some wonderful scrap bags dating from the 1970s through to the 1990s, I also have my own collection of fabric from the 1930s to 1980s. Little Min's dress is made from a beautiful piece of rayon type fabric I'm guessing dates from around the 1950s, it has a raw silk bow at the neck and pretty pink pom poms down the front, it ties at the back with ribbon, she also wears a vintage veruna wool hat and pink felt shoes, a hand knitted lace charcoal shrug and a vintage silk scarf, all clothes are removable.

Little Min's hair is a red and white herringbone wool mix fabric sewn in place with contrasting yellow thread, her face is hand embroidered with some felt details, I use coloured threads and raw edges as design details, for example the contrast of a bright yellow thread against her red hair or a duck egg blue / fluorescent orange to sew the seams. She is polyester filled and approx. 22" or 56 cm tall.
Little Min would make a wonderful heirloom gift or display doll for your home, she is happy to be played with but is not recommend for young children due to small parts and delicate details.
