The seeds are carved after being removed from the avocado and they shrink as they dry. Each seed creates a pair of unique pendants, and they are carved as they dry to create wonderful designs. Once fully dried and the carvings have been finished, the seed is varnished to allow the simple beauty be displayed. A brass eyelet allows the seed to be worn as a pendant or bead. The wood is lightweight and easy to wear.
The seed pendants are unique and are made up of deep carvings. The hardness of the finished wood can be surprising considering the delicate carvings, however because the avocado seed is soft at first, intricate and beautiful designs can be made before the seed becomes a normal wood constancy. The varnish brings out the natural golden color of the carved faces and the dark cherry color of the un-carved faces.
They are hand crafted and take many days to complete from the first eating of the avocado (yum!) to the final dry and varnish. Truly unique!
(The guild seal, i.e. the coin, is not for sale and is shown for size comparison. It is the size of a silver dollar.)
This seed has a carving on the inner portion in contour with the shape of the seed. The outside portion has been carved with several deep vertical lines. The pendant can be worn with either the inner or outer portion shown.
The seed is 1x1 inches.
A small plastic necklace string will be provided as default, if a small chain necklace is requested it will add the cost of the chain to the item's purchase price.
