The ultimate in eco-chic recycled wearable art, it really brings green jewelry to another level! Combine elegant metalwork with organic loveliness and cultivate a fashion statement.
I was Inspired by antique victorian "bouquet" pins. Essentially a miniature vase, it allows you to wear a tiny bouquet of fresh flowers on your lapel, hat or purse. Now you can have beautiful blossoms and be surrounded by wonderful natural fragrances where ever you go. Makes a wonderful bridal party accessory or a unique gift idea for that special someone.
Simply fill the hollow knife handle with enough water and submerge the stem of your flower. Alternatively you could add a bit of florist's foam or a sponge to retain moisture in a spill-proof way. Depending on how long you are going to wear it, you may not even need any water though.
Dried herbs or silk flowers work very well too. You could even add some soil and try to grow a live shoot or airplant right in the handle! Holding a bit of incense or perfume like an amphora bottle is another fun idea.
You will receive one of the handle pins pictured. You will have to find your own flowers to fill it :)
Since these are pieces of old antique silver-plated silverware, each will bear the marks and scars of a previous useful existence. I take silverware that is more than a half century old, cut, shape, form and polish it so I can pull a beautiful thing out of a rough tarnished utensil. But I'm not perfect, and neither is my work. I wouldn't want it to be if I could. Expect the odd scratch, ding or dent. I call it character, I think it gives each piece a soul of its own. Silver and silver-plate has a tendency to become tarnished over time. I prefer an aged look myself, why try and "antique" them with paint when you can have actual antiques that look the part? I think it's wonderful to watch as each piece develops a unique patina in response to the environment. That being said, these are made from actual utensils so if you want a nice shiny finish all you have to do is clean them like you would the rest of your everyday silverware. I recommend emptying and drying the handle out after each use if you fill it with water.
Shipping will be via USPS. I generally visit the post office almost every weekday, so your order will be on the way as soon as possible. But I'm only a one-man-band, so bear with me a bit if it's a holiday or something. I also sell deconstructed knife handles in case you'd like to make your own versions, check my "Components" section. And while you're here please be sure to take a peek at my other lisings of spoons rings, twisted forks, and handles because I'm adding new stuff all the time!
