The fronts of the folded cards employ 12 original art selections from my “Vertical Rorschach” art series, in which abstract compositions, using vertical lines, color, and shading, are evocative of subjects as varied as Easter, Courtship, and Royalty, and as such, serve amusingly as a series of Rorschach tests inspired by cultural elements.
The card entitled “Courtship” might be reserved for a note to a special someone; “Mardi Gras” for an occasion joyous and festive; “Royal” for notes of particular significance, profundity, or value. There are 12 distinct cards in the suite covering a range of subjects and feelings.
I am an artist, writer, pattern designer, and photographer, living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. My art and design come from a lot of places, while fashion in definitely critical among them, equally as important are geometry and jazz; a sense of balance from Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu; and a kind of idealism that looks for the transcendent in the everyday and finds lasting enjoyment in overlooked or neglected sources of value.
