People back in the day were kind of amazing. We have robots and computers and electric toothbrushes, sure, but they made jewelry unlike anything that is produced today. It's elegant and detailed, yet retains warmth and humanity: you can tell that someone fashioned these pieces with their own two hands.
Like this gorgeous little cluster ring--five natural cornflower blue sapphires form the the petals around a clear, sparkling .10 carat diamond. And look at the settings! Liberating the gold arms from their utilitarian duties, the jeweler of this piece fashioned these very cool, and very modern, peg-style settings that look natural and hand-hewn. The warm 14 karat gold curls up around the the flower, both protecting it and enhancing the natural sparkle of the stones. The pale blue sapphires set of the sparkle of the center stone beautifully. This would even make a unique engagement ring for a special woman who appreciates things that are different (but still sparkly)!
There is a little bit of wear to the sapphires, as is often the case with older pieces, but their natural rich blue still glimmers beautifully. The diamond may be a bit newer to the piece, but I can't say for sure. It has the sparkle of a slightly more modern cut, but this ring could have been made during a transitional period too.
This coquettish little cluster is a 6 and has been sized up at least once in it's long history. It can easily be sized up or down again.
