This collection brings true vintage to all you die hard golfers. Every dock is a true vintage club that has been used (some more than others) in hopes of hitting that one pure shot. As a lover of golf myself, I have always collected and tinkered with all types of golf clubs. These clubs come from the wooden headed era of 1930s to the 1980s. During this time they used mostly Persimmon (solid wood), Laminated Maple, and in the later years Resin. Since the 80's some concoction of metal has been the standard for all golf drivers. I hope you enjoy these vintage docks that represent the era the term, "hit it on the screws" was birthed.
This 1950's era Vintage Golf club is a Genuine Lefty Vintage Persimmon Powerbilt Citation 4 Wood with model #1145B* and Lucky Horseshoe HB Stamp of authenticity on the Brass Plate. The prototypes for what became the Powerbilt Citation woods series debuted on the market in 1916. Their manufacturer was already legendary: the Louisville, Kentucky-based Hillerich & Bradsby Company was the trusted maker of "Louisville Slugger" baseball bats since the late 1800s. On the heels of Franklin Roosevelt's election as president 1932, H&B renamed its persimmon drivers and fairway woods Powerbilt Citations. Collectors prize vintage Powerbilt Citation woods, mostly because of their rich history and aesthetic appeal.
From the 1930s through the 1970s, dozens of the game's top players wielded these clubs on their way to PGA Tour and major tournament championships. Production of Powerbilt Citation woods was scaled back dramatically with the advent of metal woods in the '70s, making existing clubs in at least "good" condition coveted by golf aficionados.
