PROCESS & MATERIALS
I use a specialized developing process to etch my intricate, hand drawn images onto sterling silver or jeweler's grade brass. The etching process is eco friendly.
After the woodland design, which is inspired by Jacobean Crewel embroidery is etched onto jeweler’s grade brass, traditional metalsmithing techniques are used to fabricate the piece. The charms are cut out, shaped, hammered into a gentle cup, filed and sanded by hand. The sterling silver french earwires are fabricated, polished and work hardened. To give the earrings a soft antique finish, they are patinated and then polished by hand.
All my jewelry is made by me in my studio from drawing the image to be etched, to applying the final polish. I use recycled/reclaimed sterling silver whenever possible and jeweler's grade brass, also known as NuGold or Merlin's Gold. Quality craftsmanship is very important to me as is the look and feel of each piece. How the jewelry moves and hangs, its size, weight, and how it feels to the touch, are all considered when I design and make each piece.
