These earrings were made in my professional living-room jewelers studio.
The silver im using is all recycled and eco friendly. Im melting my scratch and transform it again to wires and sheets. Same with the gold i am rarely using for ethical reasons like destruction and poisoning of our environment caused by gold mining.
Mokume gane is a metalsmith´s technique developed in the 17.century in Japan .
Metals of different are inseparably interconnected by heat and pressure.
That results in a laminated block which I transform by forging and repussing into unique sheets of patterned Mokume.
In Japan Mokume Gane was used particularly for the grasps of the samurai swords.
The technology is very time-consuming and causes large loss of precious material in the manufacturing process.
Here it was converted to simple light and magnificent earrings.
Mokume Gane stars were bulged to hemispheres and closed by silver plates.
By request I can make earrings of the same shape but with another pattern - just tell me! I will gladly send you fotos of mokume sheets from which you can choose. Or if you have your own ideas about how the pattern should look like - convo me. But please understand, that there is an extra charge for the making of custom designed mokume sheets.
You wear them best accompaigned by simple, dark or white clothes,
which it accents effectively.
As optimal addition you find the suitable ring in my shop.
