~ I found this prayer wheel irresistable... TINY and beautifully crafted prayer (mani, blessing) wheel made predominantly from brass. All the symbols of the Om mani mantra encircle the top, which is also adorned with a colorful turquoise and coral-colored bead.
This is the smallest prayer wheel I have ever seen anywhere and the amount of detail that went into making it is amazing! Incredibly, it is fully functional and rotates smoothly, rapidly and easily. It was imported directly from the Kingdom of Nepal.
If you have a mani prayer wheel in your house, your house is the same as the Potala, the pure land of the Compassion Buddha. Simply touching a prayer wheel brings great purification of negative karma. Turning a prayer wheel containing 100 million om mani padme hum mantras accumulates the same merit as having recited 100 million om mani padme hums. Prayer wheels also stop disease. Anyone with a disease such as AIDS or cancer, whether or not they have any understanding of Dharma, can use the prayer wheel for meditation and healing.
~ This prayer wheel is small enough to fit in your shirt or jacket pocket or purse and the blessings the rotations send out are just as meaningful as the larger versions. Combined with only the slightest motion of your hand, that sets the prayer wheel spinning out its blessings. Mani, or prayer wheels (mani meaning "blessing") are always spun in a clock-wise direction, when viewed from above. This is old tradition.
~ The detail of this little prayer wheel is truly amazing! I love the way the gold-tone OM Mantra letters are attached around the head of the prayer wheel. There is also tiny gold-tone trim around the stones and also embellishing the top and bottom of the rotating head.
~ There is a paper roll of Om mantras inside, just like the big ones. The belief is that ALL these mantras (in addition to those on the sides..) and their blessings go out to all sentient beings by spinning the wheel, so the more mantras, the better!!~
