I have always enjoyed taking products and trying to extend the life of them, as well as my own interest in them, by modifying or turning them into something else. Considering this shocking stat: (The EPA estimates that the average person throws away 70 lbs of clothing per year. That adds up to 3.8 billion pounds of unnecessary waste added to our landfills. http://www.smartasn.org/consumers/index.cfm) I thought clothing would be an interesting area to experiment with. I have been modifying my own clothes, furniture, and just about everything else for as long as I can remember, so I thought I'd try to create some products that might make it easy for others to do the same.
So, very simply, here's the 'why' for this item:
BE MORE YOU: Opportunity to customize your clothes / items.
EXTEND: Extend life and interest of products.
I'm using a mix of fabrics to create the pieces, some are from clothes that aren't being used, (everything is washed and clean) and some are fabrics I've purchased. In the future I will also be looking at using donated clothes that would otherwise be heading to a landfill, creating my own fabric designs, and partnering with existing companies and using their 'scraps' from the process of creating their clothes, curtains, sheets, etc.
