In life's darkest moments, I believe it is so easy to lose hope. And it is so easy to lose focus. That is why we must hold onto something true, something that makes us go "It is going to be okay. This too shall pass." When I created this series of patterns, I was thinking about the Gee's Bend quilts from Alabama. I think the Gee's Bends quilts are so amazing is that the elevate the idea of comfort and familiarity. These quilts were not made to hang in museums, but be used on beds to keep people warm. That idea of warmth and comfort is the something beautiful that we all need to carry.
