Lovely Mid Century pagoda style black lacquer jewelry box from Japan. It is also a music box and when wound the beautifully dressed geisha turns in front of her four mirrors. I am not familiar with the beautiful haunting tune that it plays but after doing some research I am guessing it is a japanese lullaby called Itsuki No Kimoriuta. Stamped on the bottom ACSONS Japan. Hand painted pagodas, trees and mountain accented with mother of pearl inlay. Brass hinges and handles. The jewelry music box has four drawers, three on the side of the geisha and one long one at the top. Lined with red material. The piece is in good vintage condition. Some paint wear especially on the edges and on the top's sides, a couple of small nicks, minimal loss of the mother of pearl inlay, the long drawer is missing it's handle. the back right corner of the top appear to have been knocked there is a little crack in the wood the tip of the corner is a little loose. Needs to be touched up with a tiny bit of glue. Wind on the bottom, music plays but does not stop when door is closed. I am not sure if the music is supposed to stop when the door is closed.
