This lovely cottage-perfect vintage chenille bedspread was made by Carter's Ret Rac in the 1950s. The background is the characteristic Ret Rac all-cotton matelasse in creamy white or ivory. The bedspread is covered with heavily needletufted flower designs that are peachy pink with dark sage green leaves. The flower designs alternate with plush detailed circular designs that look like sunflowers. This combination of plush (cut) chenille and needletufted (uncut) chenille is unusual. There are pom poms along three edges. Several of the pom poms are missing, but it is not really noticeable when the spread is on a bed. There are some places where there are small pulls in the needletufting, which is normal for this type of chenille and in this age bedspread. The bedspread displays beautifully, and I do not consider it a cutter in any regard. I hope that it will be preserved and enjoyed for its original purpose, rather than cut up for projects. This is a wonderful heirloom treasure that would really add a lovely touch to a cottage, country or shabby chic bedroom.
The bedspread measures 90 inches wide and 108 inches long, not including the pom pom fringe. The corners are square. It is shown on a standard queen size bed that has a mattress about 13 inches thick. Please measure your own bed to determine the exact fit on your own bed before purchasing to ensure that the spread fits the way you would like.
This is a heavy bedspread, with a shipping weight of 7 pounds. It is also large and will not fit in a Flat Rate Box. Shipping cost is set to cover the cost to the farthest zip code, since Etsy does not provide a way to calculate shipping to specific destinations. If the actual cost is less, I will refund the difference through Paypal following shipment.
