I found this pale, icy blue piece of seaglass on a stony beach near my hometown of Dublin. It is fully frosted with rounded edges all the way round. The glass is a rarer, pale blue or aquamarine colour. It looks almost glacial and very beautiful. As with all seaglass, the colour will appear denser or brighter depending on the light, the background (complexion/clothing) etc.
I wrapped it in low tarnish silver filled wire. I rarely set out with a pre-planned design for wrapping seaglass. I prefer to let the piece show the way as I go. Sometimes it surprises me! This piece has a groove down the middle, and as I began to wrap it I realised it was becoming like a leaf. With a few delicate twists and tweaks I completed the shape it was destined to have.
The chain is a pretty, sterling silver crinkle chain that closes with a trigger clasp.
'Sea Leaf' is a gorgeous piece of treasure from the Irish Sea.
