A lovely original 1950’s dress in an ethereal white chiffon organza. This would make a fabulous wedding gown – certainly lovely enough for a very special occasion. The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow bodice perfect to accentuate a narrow waist – with a twirling full skirt. Maker’s label reads “An Original Junior Theme : New York”. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely nylon blend.
Note the special details on this wonderful dress – bodice in draped chiffon, barely there spaghetti straps, and especially the full twirling skirt. There are two layers to the skirt – an ivory satin acetate lining, topped by a layer of white chiffon. Note the dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.
The dress closes down the centre back with a hidden metal zipper and fastener.
No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a small size which would best fit a modern size 2 or 4.
Bust – 33-34”
Waist – 25-26”
Hips – full
Length – 37.5”
Torso length (excluding shoulder strap) – 11”
Skirt length (waist to hem) – 26.5”
This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No holes or stains and underarms are clean. I found several of the snags or runs typical of chiffon skirts of this era. No significant defects to note.
