I drew this illustration which is inspired by those conversations with my sister-in-law when we visited them in Washington DC last summer. She lives south of Alexandria, near the mouth of a river, which is also a wildlife protected area. I did enjoy their backyard when I was staying in their house. They are big fans of birds, so they planted some flowers that attract a lot of birds. They built a little pond with some lilies and three tree frogs. In the night, the frogs sang loudly, which took me back to my childhood, so I told this to my sister-in-law. And she said “Occasionally we can hear an owl if it's a quiet night. That was very neat! My eyes and my mouth were wide open when I heard that. And the other day, we were talking about the dogs in their neighborhood, and she said that one night when she and her husband were driving back home, she saw “a dog” sitting in their driveway, she mummered “why is the dog sitting there alone?” Her husband said, “It’s not a dog, it’s a fox.” Once again, I couldn’t help being surprised… last month we moved into a nicer neighborhood that has a lot of lovely houses and trees around. So far I've only seen one raccoon and one wild turkey. My husband told me there is deer living in this area. Oh~I wish one day that we’ll have a deer or owl or fox as our neighbor!
The hoodie is made of 100% cotton. Long body and long sleeved design is very flattering and well-fitting. I screen printed my drawing with white ink and hand stitched several silver beads as shiny stars in the dark nights .
