Estate sale find: 50s cat eye sunglasses in like-new condition. I got them from an estate sale of an optometrist who had a home office that was probably built in the 40s and he ran it until the late 80s. There were boxes and boxes of dead-stock vintage glasses that had been packed away for decades. A great find, I know! This pair is one of the coolest 50s pairs I bought and they look to have never been worn (I don't think they were--almost none of the hundreds were). It may have been a sales sample for his office to show clients what they could order, that's what I think. They are not stamped with a maker name like Ray Ban or Safilo, but they are marked TS-929 on the inner arm. They look like ladies Ray-Ban glasses from the period, though. The colors are red and cream, and the lenses are deep green glass.
5-1/4" across the front of the frame
each eye is 1-3/4" tall, bottom of frame to top at mid-eye
5-1/4" arm length, from hinge seam to end of arm
1-3/8" from center of bridge to center of lens
excellent like-new vintage condition. No scratches or signs of wear. They came in a lovely retro gold thread lashed case (in star-decorated plastic) that contours to the cat-eye frame shape. I have a pic of it, just ask.
I can ship internationally, just ask.
