This lovely quilt was made in the 1930's or 40's with lots of colorful feed sack fabric in the shape of bow ties. There are 306 bow ties on this lovely quaint quilt! The bow ties are 5.5 inches across diagonally and the whole quilt measures 80 inches by 80 inches. In pic #5, I have it shown on a full size bed and the quilt hangs over the side. It would also fit on a queen size bed.
Someone spent many hours making this quilt. The 4 inch bow tie blocks were handsewn and the quilting was handsewn. The quilt was outlined with a dark blue and white polka dot binding which was also handsewn. It has a medium cotton batting and a cream muslin cotton backing.
This quilt is in great condition. I have found two small patches on the back which I pictured in pic #4. There are no holes and just a few very small stains, the biggest one is shown in pic #5, it is on the blue and white striped bow tie. I have soaked this quilt and gently washed it and then aired dried it in the morning sun and now it is very clean and fresh smelling. This would look so lovely in a country or cottage chic bedroom or across a big comfy couch.
