This listing is for a lovely, French sterling silver 'secret compartment' ring from the 1930's or 40's. This is a wonderful ring! The ring is heavy weighing 5.0 grams with ornate filigree, Fleur De Lis all over and a heart on the compartments lid. These rings were used for many different purposes and have quite a history. As a mourning ring, with a lock of a loved one's hair inside or other personal item. Another use would be as a promise ring with something from your betrothed inside. Other's call these snuff rings or poison rings. Whatever it's use it is gorgeous and I think it would make a lovely, antique wedding ring. The ring is in perfect condition, the lid snaps shut and stay's closed securely. Could use a cleaning, which I will leave to the new owner as I love the way the tarnish highlights the details. Exceptional quality, made in France and simply lovely!
The ring is size 7.0 and weighs 5.0 grams. Marked 925 inside the lid.
This is the second ring like this that we have. They belonged to my Grandmother and her twin sister Alice. The other was a size 5.75 and sold immediately.
My pictures show the ring from all angles. If there is a particular view that you would like to see or a question that you have, let me know. I am NOT a jewelry photographer and my pictures don't do this beauty justice...............
We will insure this package at our expense and ship in a small flat rate box to assure that it arrives safely.
