Gorgeous carved Art Deco brooch in the form of a chysanthemum flower. The carving is quite intricate showing the curving petals of open flowers, leaves, stamens and one beautiful bud.
This piece has blush or peach tones intermixed with the main cream tones. This is a typical appearance for angel skin coral. The finish has a waxy sheen.
The carving is claw set into a back marked "silver" and it closes with a trombone clasp. The setting allows the full dimension of the carving to be seen. The pin is slightly bent but closes securely. I did do some corrective shaping on the pin end to make it fit securely into the clasp.
Weight is .57 of an ounce. Measures roughly 2 inches across, 5/8 of an inch wide and has a depth of about 3/8 of an inch.
The silver is probably sterling but I have not tested it. It has a rich patina.
I see no damage to note to the stone.
Asian inspired Art Deco pieces usually possess a serene beauty with exquisite details. They are some of my absolute favorites.
This would be a wonderful piece for a bride!
