The place name is LEWES (Sussex) and the playing card is beautifully illustrated with a pen and ink drawing representing the area and measures an unusual 1" x 3" (akin to a railway ticket size).
The card is mounted by hand into 4 old-fashioned cream photo mounts and the message 'HOME' is hand printed freestyle using an uppercase vintage alphabet, namely the Eaglefeather typeface. Eaglefeather, with its unique double cross bars and sweeping curvilinear strokes, is based on the lettering used by extraordinary architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, in his drawings from the 1920s.
I have scanned the card so you can see it in more detail (the card is mounted straight even if my scans aren't!), along with a picture of the original card game packaging for a full sense of its heritage.
The inside of the card is blank for your own personal message.
A lovely gift in its own right. Fabulous for framing.
The card is cream (240gsm acid free) with matching envelope (120gsm) and measures 105mm x 148mm (size A6).
It comes sealed in a cellophane bag and will be posted in a hardbacked envelope.
