What is gold filled?
Gold filled is a quality alternative to solid gold. It is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It doesn't flake or rub off or turn colors as gold plating can. Anyone who can wear gold can wear gold filled without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewelry. Gold filled is an actual layer of 100% gold, pressure bonded to another metal usually brass. Gold filled items are regulated by the government (FTC) which require gold filled items to be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product. All the jewelry I make with gold filled is 1/20 14kt gold fill.
