To create Dolby, we started by disassembling the unit and removing all the old, defunct electronics. In it's place, we've installed a 15 watt amplifier that drives a 4" Scosche speaker. For it's size, this piece is surprisingly powerful, plenty for an average room.
A new volume control was installed, but the volume knob itself is original. On the control panel we've also added a chrome toggle for the speaker power and an orange LED jewel light as a power indicator.
To dock your iphone 5, we've installed a docking tray on top that is wired to charge your device whether the power is on to the speaker or not.
Cosmetically, this unit was in pretty rough shape. The original industrial faceplate shows some wear and discoloration along with a few dings and scratches all of which just adds to the cool factor. His original leather handle was missing, so we've replaced it with a section of a well worn, vintage belt. The cabinet has been resprayed with a hammered silver finish.
Dolby is ready to rock, so get on your lab coat and get ready to yell "It's alive!"
