The photo of Darla’s staple length contains two samples. The top sample has been washed while the lower sample is in its raw state.
Romney fleeces are known for their ease of spinning and uniform crimp. Romney wool is also noted for its relative low lanolin content. This results in a higher yield of clean wool. We provide the fleece in its raw state which allows the wool to be spun “in the grease” if desired. Darla’s fleece was shorn in January 2012.
About us ... Grace Valley Farms is located in the Clark’s Fork of the Yellowstone River valley in south central Montana. We are a small, family-operated farm. Our sheep enjoy the pastures watered by snowmelt from the nearby Beartooth Mountains. The pastures have been seeded with a wide variety of grass, legume, and forb species to provide optimal nutrition.
