The quilt is approximately 46 x 55" - just right for so many uses. It will be a much loved gift for a baby or a child or to be used as a lap quilt or a throw over the foot of the bed or on a rocking chair as shown in the pictures. In fact, a baby could begin using this as a blanket or tummy time quilt, and later use this to cover up with in bed or on the couch, and years after that continue to use it in his or her home as an adult. This quilt would also make a wonderful "thinking of you gift" for someone.
The colors remind me of a cottage or garden. The quilt is certainly something that could serve as a decorative element in designing a room. If you have a large wall where you could display it, it would make a gorgeous wall hanging. The quilt is very restful and relaxing when you gaze at it.
A paisley fabric with light and dark pinks is used for the Sawtooth Stars. The floral paisley print has touches of cream, green, and brown. A cream/ivory fabric is used for the background. A muted shade of green is used for the border. The binding is a floral print in shades of rose. The colors match beautifully and compliment one another. The backing is a slightly geometric print with spring/summer greens, but also has some cream; and you will see some small blocks with deep pink flowers here and there in the design. Small bees appeaar, too, if you look carefully. The back is almost as pretty as the front.
These are quilt shop quality fabrics and were prewashed. Then the fabric was cut into the appropriate sizes to create and sew the quilt top. After piecing, the quilt was layered with batting and backing and quilted in a feather pattern by a professional long arm quilter. The feathers enhance this quilt even more! The French double fold binding was machine stitched on the top of the quilt and then hand stitched to the back with nearly invisible stitching and many, many, many stitches to the inch so this quilt will stand up to lots of love and frequent washing. Double fabric used along the edges for binding makes it even more durable. Everything on this quilt was done in a manner so it could have been entered in competition - just the way quilt judges like to see quilts made! This item is made in the USA and in a smoke free home.
Cotton is used in this quilt. The recommended care is to machine wash it on a delicate or gentle cycle with cold to slightly warm water and tumble try on a lower heat setting in the dryer or air dry. Do not use bleach. You may already know that the batting, quilt top, and backing may shrink just a little as it goes through repeated washings so you may have a bit more traditional "soft look" to the quilt over time.
