Did you know that before the use of flowers in the bridal bouquet, women carried aromatic bunches of garlic, herbs, and grains to drive evil spirits away as they walked down the aisle? Over time, these were replaced with flowers, symbolizing fertility and everlasting love. Thank goodness for that!
This lovely vintage dress, at least to me, would be the most beautiful, country chic wedding dress ever. It's soft and feminine and charmingly sweet. I wish I would have worn something like this to my own wedding. It's got history and character. Things you can't find in a modern wedding gown. It's also a comfortable, breezy dress, with just the right amount of flow. Like something out of a historical romance film. The bodice has a lace overlay with delicate faux pearl buttons and pink satin ribbon trim. The cotton body of the dress is white, or perhaps one might consider it egg shell, and is sprinkled with tiny pink and blue flower sprigs. The sleeves are a gorgeous lace that has a slight stretch for comfort and elastic wrists. The lace overlay panel extends all the way down the front of the dress and the skirt is hemmed in a wide, pretty ruffle. The dress does have a silky lining for coverage, but as you can see in the second photo, the top is somewhat sheer in the right lighting. You could either wear a chemise under it or simply wear a lacy bra for a daring, yet demure look. It has a zip up back and hook closure, both of which are in fine working condition. There is also a darling built in belt that ties in the back for a graceful and whimsical finish. It is in great vintage condition, with no tears or stains that I can find. But there is some slight wear on this dress. The finish is coming off of a few of the pearl buttons and there are some small, insignificant snags and / or pills on the lace sleeves. And keep in mind, while I have gone over this dress with a fine-toothed comb, it is possible that I've mistakenly missed some small flaw! There is no tag to be found, but I'm calling this dress a medium. It measures approximately (lying flat): bust 17 1/2", waist 30 1/2" around and 42" long from waist to hem. It will be shipped to you via USPS. If you have any questions, do be sure and ask. Thank you for looking!
