Three basic hard-wired traits well-known to Modern Psychology were used to develop my questionnaire (search on youtube the names referenced below to see interesting video presentations about these traits):
1. Sensitivity (of the fight or flight response) vs Insensitivity (see also Elaine Aron);
2. Introversion vs Extraversion (see also Susan Cain);
3. Right vs Left Brain Processing Preference (see also Jill Bolte Taylor, My Stroke Of Insight).
In Animal Medicine, a Medicine Wheel is a compass for life that shows us six basic animal natures or personality types. All six types are equally valid in their ways of being in the world. These six types cluster into three groups, shown in the picture as RED, YELLOW, and BLUE. These three groups differ in some very basic hard-wiring. Red, yellow, or blue, which are you? Even knowing this much will help you in your day to day life.
No one position is better or worse than any others, because like the directions on a compass, each is a valuable part of the whole. Each of us has something to teach and something to learn. Awareness and acceptance of self and others is very good medicine for us all.
Use this workbook (Second Edition) to find your true animal nature and place on the Medicine Wheel. Identify your innate strengths and weaknesses, with whom you are most like, and what we can learn from those who are most unlike us. Easily adapted for building community with a wide range of ages, whether in the classroom or workplace. Also helpful for couples wanting to better understand the dynamics of their relationship.
Professionally-printed workbook (8.5" x 11"), 32 pages, spiral bound durable glossy cover.
Also available at Sherman's Books And Stationery, and Dancing Planet (in Bar Harbor); The Sand Castle, and Dream Catcher (in Ellsworth, Maine). Please stop in and say hello to these awesome shopkeepers when you are in town.
READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT MY WORKBOOK:
RK: This is a book that helps explain some of the more subtleties of Totems.
LG: Thanks so much for this very insightful journey to finding my totem Spirit Mole.
DRD: I am very grateful that I purchased this book! Many write about this subject; however the insight in this book is truly remarkable, I am very impressed and thankful to have been led to purchase it! I will recommend it to many others, as well as return myself to purchase more as gifts. Wado!
CD: A must read for anyone wanting to discover their place on the sacred circle. Doesn't definitively tell you your place, but carefully guides the spirit to follow your own intuition. This is as it should be. Excellent teaching tool. Highly recommended. Great value for the price.
"Sure alot of questions but it did give what I, and my family, consider to be my Totem animal ... If someone doing this takes the time to thoroughly read about each direction and animal, I don't believe they would have any trouble learning who and where they are." (Ron of 1eggman.etsy.com).
"I am badger/eagle for sure." (Betsy of ChansonTrinity.etsy.com).
"Enjoyed it. Learned alot." (Linda of WolfLady.etsy.com).
“I like the updated instructions (THE KEY FACTORS), I think they make it much easier to figure it out for a do it yourself reading.” (Debbie of SweetgrassValley.etsy.com).
"Overall--thumbs up." (Jan of Heartworks.etsy.com).
"This research work should be added to everyone's library" (Van of KickingBear.etsy.com).
