This issue has 66 pages, black-and-white and toned photos, and advertisements.
Size: approximately 11.25 x 8.5 inches.
Condition: Noticeable wear, with small rips to cover edges. Moderate age-tanning to pages; cover colors are bright and unfaded. Bottom page corners throughout are worn down. Top and bottom of spine has some loss to the paper, but the binding is holding.
On the first page of each story, there is an X marked in pencil (see example in Image 3). I believe the original owner was marking off which stories she had read.
Magazines like this are a fantastic time capsule of popular tastes, interests, and fashions of the period. My mother remembers that my grandmother was addicted to True Confessions back in the 1930s and 1940s!
The "true" stories -- each with a lurid, dramatic staged photo -- include:
• Confessions of a Co-Ed
• Can Husbands Be Lovers?
• I Wanted a Proposal
• Because I Loved Him So
• The Men in My Life
• They Called Me Thrill Girl
Plus parts of serial installments:
• My Cocktail Marriage, Part 1
• Too Eager for Kisses (Conclusion)
There is a gorgeous color ad for Maybelline Eyelash Darkener on back (see Image 2), a beautiful photo of Carole Lombard (Image 5), plus lots of fascinating smaller black-and-white ads (Image 4).
